- The 22628VIC Diploma of Islamic Leadership (ILEAD) is the product of over two years of work by the Islamic College of Melbourne consulting with local community leaders and organisations. In 2025, Year 10 students at the Islamic College of Melbourne can begin a 3-year rigorous program that trains them to innovative faith leaders. Students will continue their normal VCE studies in their special ILEAD classroom while obtaining advanced training in Islamic Knowledge and Leadership (ILEAD) provides graduates with the skills and knowledge required to perform the role of an Imam, religious instructor, and/or Muslim Chaplain, to serve the Australian Muslim Community.
- This will be an accredited course recognised by the VRQA as a Level 5 qualification (Diploma), according to the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) and ICOM will be recognised as a Registered Training Organisation (RTO).
ILEAD should acquire the skills and knowledge to:
- Lead religious observances (activities/rituals)
- Guide congregations in religious matters
- Reconcile religious beliefs and practices within the modern Australian society
- Run community development programs
- Teach Islamic text and resources
- Provide consultancy on Muslim matters to the wider community
- Provide faith-based pastoral care services.
