Faith is woven throughout life at the Islamic College of Melbourne. From Foundation to Year 12, students learn in an environment where Islamic values guide daily practice, shape character, and strengthen their understanding of the world around them.
Faith First
Islamic values are woven throughout daily life at the College. Students encounter faith not only through formal learning, but through the culture, expectations, and relationships that shape their school experience.
Under the guidance of the College Principal, together with the Director of Faith and dedicated teaching staff, students engage in Islamic Studies, faith-based learning experiences, and opportunities for spiritual growth throughout the year. Assemblies, special events, guest speakers, and whole-school initiatives reinforce important Islamic teachings while helping students strengthen their understanding of faith in a contemporary world.
This daily connection to faith helps students develop a strong Islamic identity while fostering a sense of belonging within the College community.

Guided by the Quran
The Holy Quran occupies a central place within the educational journey of every student at ICOM.
Through structured Quran programs, students develop their recitation, memorisation, and understanding of the Quran while building a lifelong connection to its teachings. These programs are carefully designed to support students at varying levels of ability and experience, ensuring meaningful progress throughout their years at the College.
For Primary students, the Quran Accelerated Program (QAP) provides an additional pathway for advanced Quranic study. Across the College, students are encouraged to engage deeply with the Quran and apply its guidance to their daily lives.
This commitment is reflected through one of the College’s most significant events, ICOM’s Annual Quran Competition, which celebrates excellence in recitation and memorisation while recognising the dedication of students and families who invest in Quranic learning.
Guided by the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)
Alongside the Holy Quran, the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) provides an important foundation for faith, learning, and character development at the Islamic College of Melbourne. Through Islamic Studies, assemblies, guest speakers, faith-based initiatives, and everyday interactions across the College, students are encouraged to learn from the Prophet’s example and reflect on how his teachings can guide their lives.
The values demonstrated by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), including honesty, respect, humility, generosity, and service to others, are reinforced through the culture and expectations of the College. Students are encouraged to embody these qualities in their relationships, their conduct, and their contribution to the wider community.
From classroom learning and wellbeing programs to charitable initiatives and community engagement, the Sunnah remains a practical and relevant guide for students as they grow in faith and develop a strong sense of purpose. Through this connection, ICOM seeks to nurture young Muslims who are confident in their Islamic identity and committed to making a positive contribution to society.

Students are encouraged to put their faith into action through learning, worship, service, and participation in the life of the College community.
Character, Service & Leadership
The development of strong character is an important outcome of Islamic education.
Students are encouraged to demonstrate honesty, responsibility, respect, and compassion in their interactions with others while learning the importance of serving their communities and contributing positively to society. Through leadership opportunities, mentoring experiences, student initiatives, and community-focused activities, students develop the confidence to lead with integrity and purpose.
These experiences help students understand that leadership is not defined by status or position, but by service, accountability, and the ability to positively influence those around them.
