English gives students the confidence to communicate clearly in every aspect of school life. From Foundation, students build strong reading and writing skills through explicit teaching, while developing their vocabulary, comprehension and ability to express themselves with purpose.

As students move through Primary School, they read increasingly complex texts, write for different audiences, and become thoughtful communicators who can listen, discuss and share ideas with confidence.

Health and Physical Education encourages students to develop healthy habits while enjoying regular physical activity. In the early years, students build confidence through movement and games before developing teamwork, coordination and a deeper understanding of personal wellbeing.

Throughout Primary School, students learn the importance of participation, resilience and respectful behaviour both on and off the sporting field.

Digital Technologies prepares students to use technology with confidence and responsibility. Students learn how digital systems work while developing practical skills that support learning across the curriculum.

As they progress through Primary School, students use technology to create, investigate and solve problems, building the digital skills needed for future learning and everyday life.

Drama encourages students to develop confidence through creativity, imagination and performance. From the early years, students explore storytelling, role-play and character while learning to communicate ideas in engaging and expressive ways.

As students progress through Primary School, they build performance skills, work collaboratively with others, and develop greater confidence presenting to an audience. Drama provides opportunities for students to express themselves, think creatively and enjoy learning through performance.

Quran is at the heart of learning at Islamic College of Melbourne. From Foundation, students develop correct recitation through Tajweed, build their memorisation, and strengthen their understanding of the Holy Quran.

As students progress through Primary School, they continue to refine their recitation while applying the teachings of the Quran in their daily lives. Every year, students from Foundation to Year 6 are invited to participate in the College’s annual Quran Competition, celebrating their learning and encouraging excellence in recitation.

Arabic helps students build a meaningful connection with the language of the Quran. Beginning with simple vocabulary and everyday communication, students progressively develop their reading, writing, speaking and listening skills.

Throughout the Primary years, students gain confidence using Arabic while deepening their understanding of Islamic learning and the significance of the language within their faith.

Islamic Studies helps students build a strong understanding of their faith while developing a lasting connection with Islam. Students learn about Aqeedah, acts of worship, the life of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), and the values that guide the daily life of a Muslim.
