Year 7 & 8

Students strengthen their reading, writing, speaking and analytical skills through novels, poetry, media and a range of contemporary texts. They learn to communicate confidently, think critically and create imaginative, informative and persuasive writing for different audiences.

Students build confidence across number, algebra, geometry, measurement, statistics and probability while developing logical reasoning and problem-solving skills. Learning focuses on applying mathematical concepts in practical and real-world contexts.

Through practical investigations and scientific inquiry, students study biology, chemistry, physics and earth sciences. They develop the skills to observe, question, test ideas and explain scientific concepts using evidence.

Students explore history, geography, civics, citizenship, economics and business, developing an understanding of societies, cultures and the world around them. They learn to analyse evidence, think critically and make informed decisions about contemporary issues.

Students develop the knowledge, skills and confidence to lead healthy, active lives through a combination of practical physical activity and classroom learning. The subject promotes teamwork, resilience and sportsmanship while helping students build lifelong habits that support their physical, mental and social wellbeing.

Students develop digital literacy by exploring programming, data, digital systems and cybersecurity. They learn to design digital solutions while understanding the ethical and responsible use of technology.

Students explore a variety of artistic techniques, materials and creative processes while developing their own ideas and artistic style. They also study artists from different cultures and historical periods to deepen their understanding of visual expression.

Students develop their Arabic language skills through reading, writing, listening and speaking. Learning focuses on expanding vocabulary, improving grammar and sentence structure, strengthening comprehension, and building confidence in communicating in Arabic through a range of engaging activities.

Students continue to develop their Quran recitation and memorisation while strengthening their understanding of tajweed and the rules of correct recitation. Regular practice helps students build confidence, accuracy and a lasting connection with the Holy Quran as an important part of their daily lives.

Students deepen their understanding of Islamic beliefs, worship, history and character through age-appropriate study of faith and daily practice. Learning encourages students to strengthen their Islamic knowledge while applying its teachings to their lives, relationships and responsibilities.

Pastoral Care supports students as they transition into Secondary School by developing confidence, resilience, positive relationships and effective organisational habits. The program encourages personal growth while promoting wellbeing, respect and responsible decision-making.

This feels much more like website content than curriculum documentation, while still giving parents a clear understanding of what is taught. It also avoids repeating information already covered in the Overview & Curriculum section.
