Year 7 & 8
Years 7 & 8 mark the beginning of each student's Secondary journey at Islamic College of Melbourne. As students transition from Primary School, they are supported to develop greater independence, confidence and responsibility while adapting to new routines, specialist teachers and a broader range of subjects. These important years establish the academic foundations, study habits and organisational skills that prepare students for the specialised pathways and opportunities that follow throughout Secondary School.
Year 7 & 8 Student Services
Beginning Secondary School is a significant milestone, and students are supported every step of the way. The Year 7 & 8 Student Services team works closely with students, families and teachers to help students settle confidently into Secondary School, build positive friendships and develop the resilience, organisation and wellbeing needed to thrive.
Through dedicated pastoral care, wellbeing programs and individual support where required, every student is encouraged to grow with confidence both inside and outside the classroom.
Year 7 & 8 Overview & Curriculum
Students in Years 7 & 8 follow the Victorian Curriculum F-10 Version 2.0, delivered by specialist teachers who support both academic achievement and personal growth.
Learning becomes more structured and independent as students move between subject areas, develop effective study habits and build confidence across a broad range of disciplines. Alongside core academic subjects, students continue their study of Quran, Arabic and Islamic Studies, ensuring faith remains an integral part of everyday learning.
Practical experiences, collaborative learning and ongoing assessment help students strengthen their knowledge while preparing for the increased expectations of the later years of Secondary School.
